Southeastern Animal Fiber Festival

WOW! Where to start? Let’s see. I was accosted by this guy the minute I was in the door.

I was doomed from the start.

But when I finally fought myself free I saw this.

It was amazing. There were spinners and roving.

And customers trying out new Spinning Wheels.
Bags of raw fleece.

and Tables of dyed fleece.
Boat loads of yarn And Orbs of Fluff.

There were Knitted Alpaca throws and Mini Alpacas and Felted Alpaca toys

And Gorgeous Mitered Squares Jackets
Knitted Granny Square Wraps,
Amazing Knitted Sweaters
and Entralock Berets.
So what followed me home? This…. Roving from Ravelry’s own Knit Witch, a 5 pack of Gale’s Art Roving, Donna's Organic Shea Butter Hand treatment, Miss Babb's Sock yarn for the Troubador Socks in my Ravelry queue and a Miss Austen, crocheted circular love knot shawl pattern, designed by Elizabeth Nicole foe the Unique Sheep.

Whew! Man did my feet hurt. I really wanted to buy everything I layed my hands on, which was everthing I saw! Alas, I have too many thing in my queue already. Too much on the To Do List! makes me even more scatter brained thatn usual.

Today we walked for Alzheimer's.

We. You and I. All of us, we walked today.

O.K. Maybe YOU didn't walk but the Skinny Dog and I did.

And with your help we raised enough money to get her a t-shirt too!

We had a Great Morning for the Walk at South Cove Park.

Just over 100 people raised over $12,696!

And you were a part of that. A very Important part. The Biggest part.

Sure we walked but you need money to fund research and you sent it!

was raised through my Alzheimer's Donation Page.

Groping & Orgasms

Tomorrow I’ll be groping fiber & having yarn orgasms at the Southeastern Animal Fiber Festival in Fletcher, NC. I'm going to try to meet up with as many Ravelers as possible and take lots of pictures of all the pretties.

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for the Internet.

Yes, the internet.

Without which I would never have been reminded of

just how many good, kind and giving people there are in the world.

I'm thankful to live in a free country

where EVERY PERSON has the right to voice their opinion.

First an Award, Now Prizes!

Do you remember those Orange & Green Squares I made for the Hopps for Hope Blanket? It was so much fun and it gave me the chance to try out some new stitches. And it was for a Great Cause! Such a great cause that Chris at Briar Rose Fibers (the most awesome hand painted yarns you’ll ever see) donated Prizes.

None of us got into this for prizes. Prizes weren’t even mentioned when this all started. We crocheted and knit squares because Holly is such an awesome person who’s always thinking of others. She’s the “Hey wouldn’t it be cool if we..” person in our crowd.

Where was I? Oh yea, Squares. Well apparently I made the Most Squares. *blush* And for this feat I received this….

That's 600 yards of Sport Weight, 100% Superwash Merino, handpainted yarn, called Grandmas Blessing from Briar Rose Fibers. And that’s not all! Holly really out did herself. Look what else she sent!

Fluff! Spinning Fluff! Ooo! Fluff! Now I can practice my spinning! I was SO not expecting this!

Oh but look what else!A Fat Cat Spinsanity Spindle and some of Em's Fiber !!! Can you believe it?!? Now I can really perfect my spinning in Fat Cat Style!

There's that beautiful hank of delicious yarn from Briar Rose. Isn't it Gorgeous?!

Next is Fluff! (O.K. I know it's called Roving but Fluff is so fun to say!)Fluff, fluff, fluff! Spinning fluff from Holly's very own stash! She's awesome like that. And for spinning that fluff is the most Awesome Fat Cat drop spindle! Did I mention that is hand made, hand painted by Shannon of Spinsanity Spindles. Although I've only been blogging for a very short time, it has really opened up a whole other world for me, as I'm sure it has for a lot of people. It helps keep us in touch with friends and family. It helps build a whole new community where we can meet new friends and network our interests and expand our knowledge and visions of what we can accomplish or want to try.
