What a week.

Man. What a week. I can’t even tell you what I did this week it was so boring. My man is out of town on business (again) this week and I have done absolutely NOTHING.
I’ll be back after I cheer up (up my meds) after the holiday.

Elegant Shell Complete!

Look! LOOK! It's finished and it FITS!!

This is the Elegant Shell Pattern from Lion Brand Yarn. It was super easy and shouldn't have taken me as long as it did. (Too many distractions.) I'm really happy with the way it turned out. The pattern calls for the front and back to be exactly the same but I changed the front neckline to scoop a little.

I also made this "Chain, Chain, Chain" Wire Necklace from Knitters Journey. I purchased the kit at Midwest Fiber Fest from Knitters Journey. It's a very generous kit. It included all the gemstones and beads, wire, clasp & toggle and instructions. It came with more than enough wire for 2 three strand necklaces and enough beads for 3 three strand necklaces. I’m very happy with this purchase!

It was a really pretty day and I some how managed to get out of all yard work and get a boat ride too!

The Captain.

The scenery.

'08 Ass Project - DISQUALIFIED!

Didn't do so well last week. Ha! That's an under statement. I'm a disgrace! I'm disqualifying myself from this race. I know, I know, it's not a race but this is ALL the exercise I did... Wednesday - walk .5 mile w/ dog and swam 200 yards in lake. (Not bad) Thursday (7am 77 degrees, 1pm 93 degrees, 5pm 95 - excuses, excuses!), walk .5 mile w/ dog. The heat wave broke on Friday but I just can't seem to get it together. Walk .5 mile w/ dog. That's it! That's ALL! Don't worry. I walk the dog every day (but only as far as it takes to do her business.)

If I can't even do more than walk the dog (and not very far at that) then I don't deserve to be a part of this project. I have ZERO energy.

Motivation? O.K. Sure. I took pictures and no one will EVER, EVER see them! They've already been deleted from the camera and the hard drive. They were the best motivation anyone can ask for. Everyday I get up and say I'm going to do it today and everyday the same thing happens. I get home from work walk the dog and then a black hole vortex opens up and sucks me into the couch!

Honestly I have the most energy mentally and physiclly about 11am. Being at the office it's a bit difficult to do a work out. Yea, yea there are plenty of Office workouts out there but WHEN I had a gym membership I didn't even workout in front of the guys (WHEN I had a gym membership..."Here you go, a nice big fat check for a year gym membership. Thank you so very much for taking my money!"
One year passes. "Hey! I didn't lose any weight! What's up with that?? What?!? You have to GO to the gym and workout?!? CRRAAAAP!"

Here are some pictures I will post...

This was fall '07

This was spring '08

Now you might think "Oh that's not too bad I mean she is 47."

Consider this. I've never given birth to any babies

and to me, in my head I still look like this...

I SO need to win the lotto, get a personal trainer.

Secret Projects Complete

All secret projects have been completed and received by their recipients so I'm now free to show everyone.

The Pattern Play Pillow from the May/June Crochet Today! I used Cascade220 in Clemson University colors. I made it for a neighbor’s daughter who's a freshman at Clemson this fall. It co-ordinates perfectly with the bed spread she bought.

At Midwest Fiber Fest my cousin Patti (Drag0nflylover on Ravelry) graciously gave up one of her Haley Waxberg Net Bags to Chris from Briar Rose Fibers. So I made patti a new one. Not a secret but the little bag was.

It's just a something to hold keys, phone and some cash (and in Patti's case cigaretts & lighter) that might fall through the holes in the net bag.

I made a couple more squares for the Barbara Hopps Charity Blanket, which I failed to photgraph before sending them on to Holly B.

And these secrets. Guess who they're for?

Now I can finish the Elegant Shell.
I've completed the back. I LOVE how it's turning out! I'm planning to alter the neck line on the front so that it scoops just a bit. And I'll need a camisole to go under it so I don't look like This...

Back to the Shell

I've been working on secret projects lately and have gotten them almost completed.
So I've returned my attention to the Elegant Shell by Lion Brand.

Working from the hem up and I've reached the arm hole area. This is where things get tricky for me.

The diagram looks like one step in and then decreases nicely up.

Mine looks like a flight of stairs.
That can't be right, can it?

Ass Project Wednesday:
Not doing so well on this. It's been hot. Yea, yea, I know it's summer and it's hot everywhere. But at 7:30am it was 82 degrees w/ 43% humidity. How's that! And it's even worse when I get home from work. They are calling for temps over 100 today. Last night it didn't even cool down much after sunset. I suppose I could run the stairs from the basement to the main living area. At least it's air-conditioned. Hmmm, ya know I think there's a weight bench and some weights down there too. And what do you know? There's a lake out back! Huh. Guess I could swim some.
O.K. So what have you just learned about me? That I'll make any excuse NOT to exercise! Damn! Fine! I'm gonna do the swimming thing. Check with me next week to see if I've managed to squeeze into my swim suit.

Temperture Update: 6pm 95 degrees
8pm 90 degrees

Weekend Report

Whenever have the chance I've been working on more squares for the Barbara Hopps Charity blanket and another secret project, so no photos. Spent Sunday afternoon chasing my dog. Every once in a while she gets a wild hair and decides to swim the channel across the cove. As a responsible pet owner who lives near the water she has her own lifejacket and I put it on her whenever we plan to be near the water. There is nothing on the other side of the cove except woods so she really can't get into much trouble. It just scares me to death when she does it! as I don't swim nearly as fast as she does. The really frustrating part is when she's swimming she gets so focused that she doesn't ignores me when I call her back! So there I was relaxing in my noodle chair with an iced tea and there she goes! Swimming her little heart out right on by me, just out of reach as I'm calling her back! Me paddling my fat arse (still in the chair mind you) as fast as I can after her! I'm too tired to reprimand her too severely by the time I get there. But now I have to haul both of us back to the other side!
Like Mrs. G, in the '08 Ass Project, I am NOT dieting. (Who needs to diet with all this exercise?!?) I will how ever TRY my best NOT to eat at places that serve Frosty's or Jamocca Shakes. First couple days have been eye opening. Thought I was doing O.K. as far as walking/exercise was concerned. Come to find out my morning walk with the dog is 3 minutes! And maybe 6 minutes after work! Poor thing. (No wonder she swims the channel!) Well that's changed. I'm not setting my alarm 10 minutes earlier but I am actually getting up on the FIRST ring! Our morning walk is now 20 minutes. Yea for me! Also parking as far away as possible at work and the grocery store. Join us in our quest for a better, more shapely ass!
Got to go stalk Ravelry store for tote bags and frog some projects that aren't working.
